uPAR How-to Articles
Why is the 1st passage presented by uPAR a text-to-speech passage and not silent reading by the student?
The silent read is hard for students so uPAR will give students a passage with a text reader at their grade level. The silent read comes at the end at their listening comprehension level.
Please note that some students will not get an independent read if they have been unsuccessful with the previous passages, this will come up as a question. The thought process is if the student was unsuccessful with every uPAR passage, why would we make the student struggle through the independent passage if the instructional decisions won't change.
