Long, complicated sentences force you to slow down and work harder to understand what you are reading. This is not something people want to do, even if they are familiar with the subject or language you are using. Studies show that sentences of 21 words are fairly difficult to read. At 25 words, sentences become difficult, and 29 words or longer, very difficult. Sticking to one thought per sentence using less than 21 words will keep your content simple, short and clear.
